Now that you've been accepted to Metro State and are ready to get started, we're ready to help you with the process. Just follow the steps to success and you'll be on your way to achieving your academic goals.
1. ACTIVATE YOUR METROCONNECT ACCOUNT
MetroConnect is the College's official means of communication with students. Log in to MetroConnect at metroconnect.mscd.edu, click on New user and follow prompts to log in and set your password. For questions, call the Information Technology Help Desk, 1-877-352-7548. Computer access is available on campus in the library and the Tivoli.
2. COLORADO STATE RESIDENTS
Complete the College Opportunity Fund (COF) application form at CollegeinColorado.org. (You will need to authorize the COF each semester when you register for classes through MetroConnect.)
3. ORIENTATION
ALL degree-seeking students are required to complete an orientation as part of the pre-enrollment process. Go to www.mscd.edu/~nso for more information, dates, times and locations. Meet other students, learn how to get involved and be successful in college. ALL degree-seeking transfer students who are 20 years or older may complete the orientation requirement online and should check their Metro State e-mail account for instructions.
4. ASSESSMENT
Complete necessary assessment tests in the Assessment and Testing Office, Tivoli 347. Call 303-556-3677, or go to www.mscd.edu/~testing for questions.
Students who have taken the ACT or SAT and have sub scores at or above the following are exempt from the respective assessment tests:
- ACT Reading 17 SAT 430
- ACT English 18 SAT 440
- ACT Math 19 SAT 460
Please note that ACT and SAT scores are valid for only five years.
5. PREVIOUS COLLEGE CREDITS
Make an appointment with or stop by the Transfer Services Office in Central Classroom 106, 303-556-3774 or at transferquestions@mscd.edu, for transfer advising, including:
- Preliminary transcript evaluation (bring copies of previous college transcripts)
- Connection to your major department
Also, make sure and and request that your official college transcripts be sent to Metro State.
6. ADVISING AND REGISTRATION
Visit the Advising Center, Central Classroom 104, to meet with an advisor and register for classes. Create and print a tentative class schedule before meeting with an advisor.
7. FINANCIAL AID/SCHOLARSHIP
Complete the free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
Contact Financial Aid, 303-556-8593, if you have questions after completing your FAFSA form and to ensure that your financial aid file is complete with all requirements.
Complete a Metro State scholarship application.
8. BOOKS/SUPPLIES/STUDENT ID
Secure your student ID card and validation sticker at the Commuter Resource Center, Tivoli 269. Items needed: $10 (cash or credit/debit), a valid photo ID and a copy of your class schedule.
9. TUITION
Pay tuition and fees at the Cashier's Office, Central Classroom 107, by 5 p.m. on the Friday before classes begin.
10. HEALTH INSURANCE
To qualify to waive Metro State's health insurance, go to www.mscd.edu/student/resources/health, or go to the Health Center at Auraria, Plaza Building 150, to complete Health Insurance Waiver Form. You are eligible to waive Metro's Insurance if:
- you are taking more than 10 credits in the fall/spring or eight credits in the summer and
- you are currently enrolled in a health insurance plan.
11. IMMUNIZATION
You must submit documented proof that you have received the MMR vaccination to the Health Center at Auraria, Plaza Building 150, 303-556-2525. Go to www.mscd.edu/student/resources/health/immunization.htm for more information.
12. RESIDENCY
If requested, you will be required to submit proof of lawful presence in the state of Colorado to comply with HB 1023. Go to www.mscd.edu/enroll/registrar/services/HB1023.htm for information.
